Q1.OFCOM - Regulator
Q2. Teenage Dirtbag (Wheatus) and Sk8ter Boi (Avril Lavigne)
- Different narratives
- Different mise-en-scene
- Different camerawork/editing
- Different soundtrack
- Difference - explain + e.g
The documentary uses style mostly hand-held camerawork, de-saturated colour and fast-paced editing in SB contrasts with more controlled camerawork, saturated colour and slower-paced editing in TD. The linear narrative in TD follows the song, contrasting with the montage of preparation and performance in SB.Q3.
Q3. Radio producers target different audience through the content of their radio programming, local radio stations are only available on FM in the local areas although some can be accessed through an online presence. Local radio target a specific target audience through their courage of local events, weather and advertising local business opportunities. Radio produces target particular audiences through their use of style and genre of a radio programme. This can be seen in the Radio 1 Live Lounge which uses an acoustic style to attract their audience along with a young presenter to attract a younger audience. This can be seen in the Harry Styles performance where he appeared and performed a current hit to attract a younger audience then he covered an older track by Fleetwood Mac which would appeal to a older wider audience especially in the acoustic style.
- How target - methods
- Why - advertisers or Public service
- E.g. Live lounge
Q4. Talk about an aspect that create representation - image, text, colour, setting?

Mock DIRT - Lego Movie
Q6.
- BBFC - Rates ages in the uk
- Games rating Authority or The Video Standards Council - Age rates video games in UK.
Q7. To extend the marketing of the film to strengthen the brand image of the film and its franchise so audiences develop greater brand awareness of the film and any sequels. extend their enjoyment of the film.
Likely to be about media industries and theoretical framework.
2 reasons why they would release both film and a video game.
Give reasons and then explain it.
- Strengthen Brand.
- Increase fan enjoyment.
- Increase profit overall for the conglomerate.
- Diversify the product so increase possibility of success.
Q8.
2 examples given for the following:
- Know the theory well-explain it ( Knowledge )
- Apply the theory to the film ( Understanding )
- Give specific examples from the film.
Uses and Gratification:
- Entertainment: Pleasure and to escape the real world
- Personal Identify: Identify with Characters in the film, role models.
- Surveillance: gain understanding of the world. E.g News information.
- Social Interaction/Personal relations: Keep in touch via Video game communities, or discuss the film with peers.
Blumler and Katz stated that media products were there for the audiences entertainment, they were for pleasure and escape the real world. This can be applied to the Lego Movie, it provides pleasure, humour, escapism, provides a different world. We can see this specifically in the character Emmet he is funny, breaks conventions and he lives in a Lego world that he loves. Also another character that we see is Batman, superhero, well known hero.
Another media product was Personal Identify, they were for identifying with characters in the film, role models. We can see this specifically with the character WyldStyle. WyldStyle is presented as clever, cooler and better looking compared to Emmet who is the opposite to WyldStyle. This creates attention to Wyldstyle for the children and this shows identifying through characters.
Q9.
How did the promotional campaign target a family audience?
Poster- various characters, star names, varied representations, colour, variety of character.
Tv ad- mass audience, comic value, unique, linked to other ads
